A Merciful Death # 1 is the first book of the series and I have crossed my fingers for book 3 which is available for limited viewing. This series is actually very thought-provoking. It shows us what talking to a brick wall would actually feel like( due to the characters involved).
This particular installment is concerned with the group of people who are obsessed with the idea that the Government is not worth trusting and should have no right to set down the law.
Mercy Kilpatrick has moved back close to her old hometown and is investigating the death of two local policeman when they went to help with a fire that had broken out. The investigation spirals out of control when there seems to be more than what meets the eye, beneath the unrest in the area. Mercy and Truman are trying to forge a stronger relationship and Mercy has the guardianship of her young niece. Mercy continues to attempt bonding with her family with limited success. The emotions run deep and tensions are high, making the journey to the end of the tale, a fast-paced and interesting one .
