The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon (No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency #14) by Alexander McCall Smith

I am well and truly settled into this series. I would recommend starting at the beginning and working your way down. The last book was :The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection. You can find the full list in Authors & their books.

Once you are embedded in the life of Mma Ramotswe and her assorted family, it is hard to get out of it. I found the emotion lacking in a few in between but everything feels better now. It is hard to imagine how an author who simultaneously produces so many different books continues to maintain the unique identities of the various people who are introduced to us. In this installment, the cases are actually interesting. They will not be solved as easily as the ones in the recent past. They may have more layers than is seen initially. Mma Makutsi is going to have more than one change in her life. Those changes are not to her personality though.J.L.B Maketoni is trying to be a better husband and his subordinates are debating their roles. Phuti’s aunt is back in the scene and actual adds comic effect.

With reference to the aforementioned cases, one is of a possible imposter who may wrongfully gain from a will made to his name. The other is a pro bono case where the lady who has opened up a brand new beauty salon is being threatened subtly. Mma Ramotswe is determined to get to the bottom of it all and not wallow in her thoughts but it is harder than it sounds. The charming conversations, and the overall atmosphere of their little town makes it worth the visit.
