This is another series written together by Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh. The last one I reviewed was Rouge River Series. This is once again a set of Novellas and not full length novels, one of the main reasons that I managed to listen to the whole thing today.
I do not like these shorter versions as much as I do the full length ones . I like the characters that these two authors create and in the shorter version, I feel like we are cheated out of the time we otherwise would have had with them. This was more of a 3.5 star book but just for the ambience and the experience of listening to the story, I pushed it up to four instead of the other way down. This is an introduction to Widow’s Island, a place with a lot of history and at least two unsolved cases at the start of the tale. Cate is the FBI agent home recovering, which puts her in the position to investigate the discovery of bones on an island. Then begins her hunt for the truth for this and another cold case. One of which she will get by the end of the book. The other we will have to wait for.
I queued up the next book of the series and seriously contemplated reviewing them together, but seeing as I am now listening to a Georgette Heyer and will probably get to it only after all the others ahead of it in the queue, I could not wait. Though the relationships are a little hurriedly projected in this story, they still are pretty interesting. This book is for those who enjoy this genre and/or are looking for a new series to get started on.
I moved around a few things on my audible/KU list since I reviewed The Girl Made of Clay by Nicole Meier ,since I am moving quite quickly through my audiobooks, I wanted to make sure I only listen to the stuff I like. My current queue now looks like this:
Never even seen a James Bond movie, just wanted to see what the fuss was about so I got this:
I like the look of my queue, what do you think? Any suggestions?
