Narrator: Cris Dukehart
May has not started off with a lot of firepower when it comes to the books that I had high hopes for. Take for example this book from the Morgan Dane series. I have reviewed the last four below, and they are all linked appropriately if you want to check the past before I talk about this particular one.
The pace of the series until this point has been relentless and a lot happened in the short time that has passed in Scarlett Falls, where the story is based. This story seemed to change things up a little. Do not get me wrong, it is in no way an inferior story, but consider what it needed to live up to, it fell short. In this installment a boy walked in to see a murder take place and then he runs for his life. Trying to find him are Lance and Morgan. They are tired throughout the tale, relentlessly being pursued by reasons to not sleep on time (or at all).
Morgan and Lance are still the dynamic duo, while their sort-of boss/partner Sharp has a story of his own in this one. A lot happens and the solution to the case although crafty was not satisfying enough considering all the allegations being made during the entire adventure. I liked the narration as always and will still recommend this series for anyone looking for something in the romantic thriller/adventure genre for solid characters(and family) and everything that their interactions entail.
My last KU review was Prism Cloud (Harbinger #4) by Jeff Wheeler
My queue now looks like this:
Considering that I will be finishing Oathbringer in a couple of days, I have a much better review pending later this week! I am actually taking notes on character arcs so maybe I will come up with something more thorough!
