Mystery

Doggone Dead by Dane McCaslin

This is a brand new cozy-series with a retired teacher at the helm, or at least she hopes to be post-retirement. Her best friend has other plans, and she is more chaotic than an unexpected weather event. The friend, Nora drags Gwen (our teacher) into a very ill-thought pet sitting plan. In this venture comes a dead body. Additionally, problems that go with being either suspect in the police’s eye and in the cross-hairs of the villain(s).
The cuteness factor of odd pets and odder ex-student(s) is thrown into the mix, making it a fun read. It laid good groundwork for a series, but I was a little annoyed by the depth of descriptions in the narration and the repetitive mentions of the character’s behavioural traits throughout the entire book. For people less impatient than me, this would work better.I might read the next in the series if I get the chance, but it has to be a little quicker for my taste

Rating: 3 out of 5.

I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.
