An Accidental Royal Kidnap (Royally Funny #1) by Paul Mathews

This was a very random book that I decided to pick up. The dialogues and sentences were constructed in a very entertaining manner. I would have enjoyed it more if not for some repetitive imagery that would have worked with just a mention instead of iterating multiple times in the book. This put me off quite a few times while I was enjoying the complicated situation our lead protagonist found himself in.
George Nearly is not enjoying the day after his birthday celebrations. It doesn’t look like he would like the following week either. A girl who claims to be a princess has decided that thinking of herself as kidnapped works well for things she has planned. The events that happen during the week are completely random and funny in the way that they are described to the reader.
I did not realise that this was the first in a series, which was unfortunate given that it ends pretty abruptly with just a brief mention of the possibilities for the chaos that lays ahead. It is not a book that takes itself seriously and, in that vein, an entertaining one. As I mentioned earlier, I would have liked it even more if certain jokes did not stay a recurring theme throughout.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley, the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.
