My Trip to the Fair by Mallika Appana

This is a very short illustrated book. It has as much content in its text as it does in the helpful glossary for those people who are unfamiliar with the things described within it.
It is probably a mildly interesting book for those who have only a brief connection to India, but for those ex-pats with children growing up outside of the country, this addresses a deeper way to start a conversation.
The book illustrates a journey of a trip to the fair (as the title announces). The delights of the fair, the ride to the place and the emotions evoked by the entire adventure are presented in a colourful and vibrant manner.
I was expecting more text-heavy content than I got, but other than that, it lived up to the promise of the cover and the title.
I would recommend this quick read to people who want a simpler slice of an Indian outing than a glitter-heavy function glamourized by movies and other onscreen events.
I read this as an ARC, thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.
