I finally got back into this series and was pleasantly surprised with the tone of this next installment. There is finally a proper blow up between the chief detective and her ‘associate’ . JLB Maketoni is now interested in the detecting himself. There is a battle of wills among all the people involved in both the main business ventures and there are surprising results to cases that are introduced in the tale.
This book is an unexpected change of tone even with regards to the case involved. There is not much to elaborate on these strange but lovable characters. This is added incentive to continue to pursue further books in this series.
