Six in Six – 2018 Edition

We have crossed the halfway mark of the year!

I am not a big meme doer. I have done just the one :#Flashbackfriday- July 2017 but I have been reading the ones put up by all those other bloggers. A few of the tags that I was tempted to attempt did not really get done because I was unable to find answers to many of the questions.

This time I thought I would set myself a challenge to see if I could limit myself to finding books that fit the six categories that I have chosen out of the ones provided by the host.

The meme is hosted by Jo @ The Book Jotter ( do check out link for all those interesting categories) and is a way to share the books we have read in the first six months of the year. In fact it is to share six books in six categories. I am just listing out books that I have reviews of so that I can tempt people to go check them out! Since I have trouble limiting my books list and for additional variety, I try not to repeat the books in the categories though we are allowed to.Do link back to the host site if you want to do this meme too!

I have linked the reviews of the books from the cover pages and I jumped with joy when I managed to (sort of) successfully fill all categories.

  • Six books I have enjoyed the most

Here I include books that may not necessarily have made me feel happy ( as the word enjoyed might hint), but have given me a thrill.

The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart  A Man Called Ove  The Orphan Band of Springdale Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle, #1) Messing with Matilda  Beartown (Beartown, #1)

  • Six From the Non-Fiction Shelf

This has been a new phase in my reading life, and I am happy that I am widening my horizons if only for all the extra books it brings into my life.

From Rocket Boys to October Sky Lands of Lost Borders: A Journey on the Silk Road Educated: A Memoir Bookworm: A Memoir of Childhood Reading Storm in a Teacup: The Physics of Everyday Life

  • Six books I’ve read in an English translation

I never thought I would be one of those people who would appreciate something translated (having had some trouble liking books translated from a few regional languages back home, years ago) but translators have really outclassed themselves.

The Air Raid Killer The Play of Death (The Hangman's Daughter, #6) A River in Darkness: One Man's Escape from North Korea Us Against You: From The New York Times Bestselling Author of A Man Called Ove and Beartown  The Lost Path Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, Vol. 1

  • Six books that I was disappointed with ( did not like as much as most others seemed to)

Surprisingly, there were a lot of books that I did not enjoy as much all all those glowing reviews by others seemed to indicate they did!

The Woman in the Window The Malinovsky Papers Slipper The Will to Power (One God, #1) The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes Another Mother

  • Six book covers I love

This is a hard one, I tend to choose books in the library  more on the basis of covers so I am going to try and keep this list limited to the physical books I have read.

The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1)  Lab Girl Lyrebird All the Light We Cannot See The Forgotten Garden The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1)

  • Six series of books read or started

I am a big fan of series’ . It makes me happy ( most times) to follow the lives of the familiar people like a saga. I wish I could tweak this to only include series with six books but that would probably be asking for too much!

The Book of Beloved The House of Memory (Pluto's Snitch #2)

A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic, #1) A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic, #2) A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic, #3)

Mistborn (Mistborn, #1) The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) The Hero of Ages (Mistborn, #3)

The Double Comfort Safari Club (No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, #11) The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection (No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, #13) The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon (No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, #14) The Woman Who Walked in Sunshine (No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, #16) 28588087

Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) World After (Penryn & the End of Days, #2) End of Days (Penryn & the End of Days, #3)

Please do check out the reviews that you (think you might) find interesting, and leave comments!

  1. Thank you very much for joining in – I love the covers of some of the books you have chosen.

And you have just reminded me that I am seriously behind on the wonderful No 1 Ladies Detective Series!
